Circular section die sets for sample preparation for XRF-spectrometry

Designation
During elemental analysis of various substances by X-ray fluorescence method it is necessary to prepare a sample of analyzable substance in the form of a pellet.
The circular section die sets are used for production of samples. The die sets implement “free pressing” into a pellet. The diameter of the obtained pellet depends on the manufacturer and the model of the X-ray spectrometer, by which the elemental analysis is conducted.

Typically, the diameters of the required pelleted samples are standard (see table 1).
It is possible to manufacture die sets of any diameter, a multiple of 0.1 mm.

Advantages
- Made of durable tool steel. Hardness 60 HRC.
- Does not “infect” the sample (does not add its own material).
- Work surface grinding (Ra0.08) provides an ideal sample surface and eliminates sample sticking on the ends of the punches.
- Shaped punch availability allows to form boric acid bonding substrate for poorly-pressed, non-plastic materials.
- Die set design ensures the accurate removal of the finished sample.

Supply package
- matrix;
- stopper;
- flat face punch;
- punch with a shaped end to form a bonding substrates;
- ring or lid for sample extraction;
- instruction manual.
